Kitchen Tour

Drum roll please…

I’m proud to unveil…. our new kitchen in all its glory! There are still some minor decorating tweaks that will need to be done to complete it, drapes, rugs, etc., but for now we are thrilled about how it turned out and ecstatic to finally have a kitchen again. Take a look…

Wondering where our refrigerator and freezer are? They’re built it!

So is the dishwasher! Isn’t that fun?

What do you think?

Very nice! What are the countertops made of? Will the glass top stove be hard to adjust to? Happy cooking!

The countertops are the IKEA “Prägel” countertops in “stone effect black”. They are made of high-pressure melamine laminate. We chose it for it’s low cost and because of the fact that they had the pieces in stock and we didn’t need to place a custom order (which would have taken another 7-12 weeks). Not my “dream” countertop, but pretty darn good for the next 2-5 years! I’m very pleased with how it turned out. Everything in the kitchen, including the countertops came with at least a 5 year warranty, so that also made us feel good.

You can see more about the countertops here:

The glass top stove hasn’t been too difficult to adjust to so far. It’s actually A LOT easier to clean than the coil electric stove we had in Pasadena! We originally wanted gas, but our hookups (which were right next to the door) weren’t in a convenient place for the stove, and we didn’t want to pay the cost (in time and money) to have new gas hook-ups installed. Someday… 🙂

Yay!! Congrats! Let the cooking begin! I love my electric glass top stove, which I know most people avoid, but it is just so darn easy to clean… because generally my stove top is the dirtiest place in the house. I hate cleaning a gas stove! Hopefully you will feel the same way too… about the electric stove… not the cleaning part! LOL!
